The expansion of Franklinton Rising in 2025 allowed us to work with 35 young adults as apprentices, training them in basic construction and life skills along with helping them learn about God and His purpose for man. Plus, we have helped several to obtain a driver’s license.
Five apprentices graduated from our Program gaining full-time employment with construction companies and three of our female apprentices are pursuing college degrees, one would like to become an architect.
We received certification as a pre-apprenticeship program from the state of Ohio and have developed a 9-week (3 hours per week) class that provides apprentices with much needed additional work in math, reading comprehension, and communications.
Four new, affordable housing, duplex buildings have been under construction containing 8 affordable and energy-efficient, 3-bedroom units, four of which are handicap accessible. They will be rented, 1st half of 2026, to single mothers and others at $300 to $500 per month below market rates.
In 2026 we expect to have over 45 apprentices in training during construction of 4 new projects beginning first half of 2026, 2 in Franklinton and 2 on the Near East Side of downtown. These will begin as we are concluding the 4 projects currently under way.
For 2026, a large Construction Company has selected our Apprenticeship Program to help provide young adult employment candidates for hire in their work with a major Columbus Health system.
Grants and donations remain the most critical component of our program, apprentice payroll alone, exceeded $150,000 for 2025.
Please consider a donation to support our Mission in 2026, helping young adults living in poverty, to escape both spiritual and economic poverty, while providing affordable, quality, and energy efficient housing for those living in neighborhoods that have been deteriorating for years.
Blessings for God’s peace and strength in this New Year!
